Harvest Natural light when you can. Entire walls of glass allows the maximum amount of daylight to flood into this formal dining sitting room. Only minimal artificial light, combined with candle light and a natural log fire in the colder months is needed to inject warm background atmospheric light as it gets darker in the evenings. Consider features beyond the window which could be lit, uplighting trees or plants allows you to see through the glass at night, rather than looking at your own reflection in the darkness of the glass and it also extends the feeling of space.

This property benefits from stunning views across a formal garden out to open countryside, privacy was not an issue. However, many people prefer the option of soft linen sheers, they diffuse the natural light during the day and form soft shadows at night which creates a more intimate atmosphere.
